Brainspotting

Brainspotting BSP

Brainspotting, or BSP is an incredible tool for expanding creative talent and for resolving sources of emotional and physical pain, trauma, anxiety and stress. It is also extremely effective in resourcing a person in a way in which they can carry that resource with them in life. It was discovered by David Grand, Ph.D. in 2003 and further developed by David Grand and Lisa Schwarz, M.Ed. (see Articles)

With both adults and children, the applications of Brainspotting are many, including strengthening performance and creativity in actors, dancers, writers, artists, musicians, public speakers, students with text anxiety—-resolving blocks that may have occurred from injuries or past stress and trauma that can keep performers from goals that are critical to their creative work in life.

BSP is instrumental in developing the strength of the core self and somatic emotional resources, alleviating and clearing body and emotional pain, panic attacks, anxiety and stress, working with Attention Deficit and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms. (Brainspotting can also work effectively with Craniosacral therapy as a further strengthening support to make valuable changes in the system.

“Brainspotting is based on the profound attunement of the therapist with the patient, finding a somatic cue and
extinguishing it by down-regulating the amygdala. It isn’t just Parasympathetic Nervous System activation that is facilitated, it is homeostasis.” Robert Scaer, M.D. (The Body Bears the Burden, The Trauma Spectrum)
